Frequently asked questions

What is à la carte?

A simple, no-fuss way to have beautiful wedding flowers. Choose one of our four color palettes, pick the pieces you need from the menu, and Janet designs each one with seasonal blooms, most of them grown in her own garden and on our farm. There is no minimum order, which makes it a lovely fit for elopements, small gatherings and couples on a budget.

Can I choose which flowers you use? What can I expect to see?

We can’t promise specific flowers. We are happy to hear your favorites and will honor them where we can, but we always put seasonal, locally grown blooms first, choosing whatever will make the most beautiful design on your day. Depending on the season, your flowers may include:

  • Spring: tulips, daffodils, ranunculus, peonies, foxglove, snowball viburnum, spirea
  • Summer: dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, lilies, lisianthus, phlox, gladiolus, hydrangeas
  • Fall: dahlias, cosmos, celosia, amaranthus, chrysanthemums, oakleaf hydrangea
  • All seasons: garden roses, Queen Anne’s lace, and greenery cut or foraged from the farm

Is there a design consultation?

À la carte does not include an in-person or phone consultation. If you have particular wishes, add them to the notes when you check out, or reach Janet before you order at info@petalsandbudsstl.com or 314.302.3579. You are welcome to email up to 3 inspiration pictures.

When do I need to order?

As early as you can, so we can hold your date. All orders must be placed at least 30 days before your wedding.

Will you deliver to my venue?

Wedding flowers are pick up only. We recommend asking a helpful friend or family member to collect your order, free, from our studio in Ladue, weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. We do not deliver or ship. Setup is not offered, but it is easy to arrange with your wedding planner, a friend or family.

Can I cancel my order?

You may cancel up to 91 days before your wedding. Within 90 days of the date, all payments are non-refundable.

How does it work?

  1. Choose your color palette.
  2. Add the pieces you need to your order and check out.
  3. Janet confirms the details with you before anything is cut.
  4. Pick up your flowers on your chosen day.
